The Sanctuary at The Bay of Islands, Paihia

Introduction

Situated in a private, native bush reserve, this cedar-clad lodge overlooking the idyllic Bay of Islands offers four guestrooms.

Contemporary in design and with an expansive, open-plan lounge, kitchen and dining area, the lodge’s floor-to-ceiling windows and large decks showcase the captivating views. Found only three hours north of Auckland, this lodge is a relaxing escape in the heart of New Zealand’s tropical crown.

The four spacious guest rooms are situated on the lower floor, with an ‘infinity’ plunge pool and surrounding deck in the centre of the two wings. Each guest room has a king-sized bed, en-suite bathroom with under-floor heating, walk-in wardrobe and large balcony. A hairdryer, tea and coffee plunger, TV & DVD player, WiFi, in-house safe and iron are available. The soft, earthy toned colour scheme blends seamlessly with the spectacular natural setting.

Fishing, sailing, kayaking, diving and whale watching can all be enjoyed in the area, while the hotel’s design encourages guests to enjoy the area of natural beauty even while relaxing in the evenings.

A fully cooked breakfast is available, with free range eggs coming direct from the farm gate. Homemade toasted muesli and gluten free options, nuts, seeds and grains, fresh organic fruits and juices, wholegrain breads and local cheeses, a variety of dairy and dairy free milks are all also offered. Dinner is not available at The Sanctuary, however there are a choice of restaurants nearby.
