Around Mt Taranaki Tour, Taranaki

Introduction

This is a full-day scenic tour into the Egmont National Park and around the Taranaki volcanoes.

Including a variety of outdoor activities, the tour begins at the bird sanctuary at Lake Mangamahoe, featuring many of the country’s exclusive species of bird.

Passing the mountain villages of Inglewood and Stratford, will journey around three different volcanoes and pass the idyllic coastal villages of Okato and Oakura.

Stopping for a beach walk, you can soak up the gentle sounds and calming breeze that flutters over the area, before passing by the Sugar Loaf Islands on your return journey to New Plymouth.

Led by a knowledgeable Maori guide, you will follow trails that are not widely known into a part of New Zealand’s wilderness rarely experienced. Maori myths, legends and history will be the topics of the day and we encourage you to learn all you can about this unique Polynesian culture.
