Full Day | Jan-Apr

Introduction

Be part of a unique research expedition at Bremer Bay, near Albany in Western Australia. Each year in February and March, enormous numbers of orcas, sharks, giant squid, sperm whales and sea birds converge in this marine hot spot, in the stunningly beautiful Bremer Bay Canyon, about 60kms off shore.

Be part of the expedition crew on a full day excursion out into the marine hotspot travelling on a 55ft catamaran, complete with three decks, spacious lounge area and a 360 degree whale viewing area for an exhilarating experience. Bring your video camera to capture images of surface activity which will be collected and entered into the rapidly growing Orca photo and video database.

During the 1.5 hour journey to the site, participants can expect to see a wide range of sea life including seabirds, dolphins, sharks, tuna and seals. Participants have seen in excess of 100 killer whales at the location on any given day and sightings are 99% guaranteed, with morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and soft drinks provided, this tour really is once in a lifetime, and we can be sure it won’t disappoint!

This eco project is tasked with uncovering the mystery behind this remarkable event and all participants will be actively supporting ground breaking passive research.
