Hobbiton Movie Set & Farm Tour, Matamata

Introduction

Lord of the Rings trilogy, the site of Hobbiton, home to Sam, Frodo and his uncle Bilbo, was re-constructed for the new films of the Hobbit.

An essential stop for every Lord of the Rings fan, you will join your guide at the Shire’s Rest in Matamata in order to commence your tour.

Visiting the actual village of Hobbiton found at the centre of a 1,250 acre working sheep farm, the Hobbit Holes, Green Dragon Inn, the Mill and other buildings created for the films can be viewed. While escorting you through the entire ten acre site, your guide will recount the fascinating details of how this beautiful stretch of Waikato farmland was transformed into the Shire of Middle Earth.

A free courtesy shuttle departs from Matamata Information Centre twenty minutes before the start time of the tour.
