Introduction

Husavik, in North East Iceland, is recognised as ‘Europe’s Whale Watching Capital’ and is also home to the fascinating Whale Museum. On this must-do 3 hour tour, you’ll sail out into Husavik’s Skjalfandi Bay in a sailing schooner (a converted traditional oak fishing boat) in search of Iceland’s big friendly giants: blue whale, fin whale, humpback whale, orca, minke whale and sperm whale.

As well as Iceland’s whale species, there’s also the possibility of spotting white beaked dolphin, harbour porpoise and other marine life on your expedition, so keep your eyes peeled and your camera at the ready!

Did you know…

In 1993, we became the first company in the world to operate a whale-watching tour in Iceland? Over the years, our award-winning writer, zoologist and specialist tour consultant for Discover the World – Mark Carwardine – has been actively involved in assisting and encouraging the development of the industry in Iceland through workshops, training programmes, lectures, articles and books.  Today, Iceland has become Europe’s top whale-watching destination, and when you experience this fantastic excursion – you’ll quickly see why…
