Husavik, in North East Iceland, is recognised as ‘Europe’s Whale Watching Capital’ and is also home to the fascinating Whale Museum. On this must-do 3 hour tour, you’ll sail out into Husavik’s Skjalfandi Bay in a sailing schooner (a converted traditional oak fishing boat) in search of Iceland’s big friendly giants: blue whale, fin whale, humpback whale, orca, minke whale and sperm whale.
As well as Iceland’s whale species, there’s also the possibility of spotting white-beaked dolphin, harbour porpoise and other marine life on your expedition, so keep your eyes peeled and your camera at the ready!
Hot chocolate and cinnamon rolls are served on board and sailing clothing is available to borrow upon request.
Silent Whale Watching
As well as traditional schooners we are also now pleased to offer the same cruise on board an eco-friendly hybrid-electric vessel. Leave no carbon footprint as you glide silently through the ocean, quietly approaching the whales in their natural habitat whilst causing minimum disturbance.
Silent Whale Watching on a carbon neutral vessel is available Jun-Sep only.
