The You Yangs Park lies just a 45-minute drive from Melbourne. Here you will walk through natural bushland to spot and photograph koalas in the wild, learning about each individual’s history and social life from your experienced Wildlife Guide and Koala Researcher. Your guide will show you how to approach koalas quietly, and how to watch them from a respectful distance without disturbing them. You will have the chance to help remove noxious boneseed weeds to improve koala habitat, doing your bit to help protect and conserve this engaging species for future generations.
After a picnic lunch under the gum trees, you will leave the You Yangs and travel the short distance to Serendip National Park to join wild mobs of Eastern grey kangaroos on the plains and in open forests. With care you can get close enough to observe their complex social life. You may also see parrots, fairy wrens, emus, honeyeaters, possums, wallabies and lizards. Your guide will help you find and understand them, and show you how to look for wildlife wherever you travel in Australia.
