Exploring by kayak offers close encounters with wildlife and provides a real sense of nature’s scale as you paddle through vast icebergs surrounded by mountains and glaciers.
Your journey begins with a forty minute boat trip to Shoup Bay, where you climb into your kayak and start paddling towards the glacier face.
Visit a colony of black-legged kittiwakes and keep your eyes peeled for sea otters, harbour seals and a variety of seabirds. When you’re ready to get back on land, you can stop at an isolated beach and stroll in view of the actively calving Shoup Glacier. Later, return by motor boat to Valdez.
