Spend the afternoon on the 60 foot catamaran “Shotover” in search of the mysterious dugong; the only wildlife sailing cruise in Australia to offer scheduled “mermaid” (dugong) watching cruises.
Just once a day, the “Shotover” Catamaran is licensed to enter the Dugong Management Zone, a protected area designed exclusively for the conservation of these animals. This restricted zone is home to 10% of the world’s dugong population, so the chances of sighting the usually shy dugong is high. Throughout the cruise, the on-board team will enlighten you with information about the dugong and other animals you may encounter such as dolphins and turtles. Conditions permitting you may also get the chance to swim in the wild or try your hand at a bit of ocean sailing.
Duration: 3 hours
Price: from £61 per person
Departures: daily
