Introduction

The ultimate Otago Peninsula tour, this memorable half-day wildlife experience combines a trekking tour and cruise to give you a unique insight into some of the world’s rarest wildlife.

Departing from the Dunedin Visitor Centre, this tour travels the length and breadth of the Otago Peninsula, whose untouched regions are home to amazing wildlife and breathtaking scenery.

The wildlife trek allows visitors to experience close, secluded viewing of the area’s world renowned wildlife, including over 20 different species of marine and wading birds, that include the royal albatross and blue penguins.
The journey by boat will head out to the Taiaroa Head Albatross Colony, for a unique view of these magnificent birds from the water and a number of marine species are often spotted en route, including the hooker’s sea lions and New Zealand fur seals.

Please note that a good level of fitness is required for the walk which covers hilly terrain and sandy beaches. **
Pick up times vary throughout the year to coincide with changing daylight hours and animal behaviour.
** The ‘LITE’ option allows easy access, for the less fit person, to viewing wildlife from an area adjacent to the Peninsula encounters conservation area. After visiting the Royal Albatross Centre and viewing 25-30 species of estuarine and marine birds cross farm fields to park within 200 metres of the viewing destination.
