Introduction

This full day tour, departing from Tasmania’s capital city of Hobart, is a fascinating introduction to the island’s colourful and eclectic past.

The tour begins with a drive to Port Arthur, the site of a former convict settlement and one of Australia’s most important heritage centres. On arrival, you will be served morning tea, before having the opportunity to explore the history of the picturesque ruins and old restored cottages of this once grim penal settlement.

After lunch, you will head to Richmond, an historic town which lays claim to the oldest bridge and Catholic church in all of Australia, both having been constructed by the earliest convict settlers in the first few decades of the 19th century.

The town also features a number of shops and galleries to explore and is a thriving little hub. On the way to Richmond, you will drive past some of the island’s extraordinary coastal formation, including the Tasman Arch and Blowhole at beautiful Eaglehawk Neck. The tour returns you to Hobart and concludes at approximately 5:30pm. Maximum 5 passengers.
