Introduction

A conservation center that focuses on the restoration of New Zealand’s iconic native wildlife, Pukaha Mount Bruce currently puts its focus on many of the island’s endemic bird species. It is also home to the little white kiwi.

Your stop here will include a walk, led by one of the centre’s Rangers. You will be introduced to the work that this centre is doing in flora and fauna restoration as part of their education programme on wildlife protection. During your visit you will be able to see a number of the facilities’ aviaries, as well a the nocturnal house, where the night-loving kiwis reside.

Home to the only white kiwis born in captivity, if you’re lucky, one of these intriguing little creatures may make an appearance. Kaka and eel feeding sessions are also held on site and may correspond with your visit. The tour includes your main entry fee and your guided one hour walk. Booking is essential.
