Introduction

Your tour begins with a lookout over the Great Lake and the rugged volcanic region which includes Mt Ruapehu itself.

Offering incredible vistas, this lays out before you many of the sites that you will encounter as the day progresses.

Next, you will witness, close-up, the mighty Huka Falls before a ten minute scenic walk and visit to the Wairakei Steam Field. From here, you will transfer to the New Zealand Riverjet base to begin your 35-minute scenic trip of the bubbling Waikato River.

This trip includes entry to Orakei Korako Geothermal Wonderland, a world of gushing geysers, hot springs, bubbling mud pools and the most amazing silica terraces you are likely to have encountered.

Then it’s back onto the Waikato River for a 30-minute thrill ride that zips through the incredible scenery and shows passengers all the acrobatics that a riverjet is capable of.
