Introduction

Departing from Reykjavik Harbour on a search for minke whales, white beaked dolphins, harbour porpoises and humpback whales

White-beaked dolphins and minke whales are commonly sighted off Reykjavik’s coast, while other species, such as humpback and orca whales occasionally make an appearance. One of the best places to see whales in all of Europe, departures from Reykjavik have an impressive success rating and, if you happen to fall in the unlucky few, you will receive another tour for free.

On this 3½ hour boat trip the experienced guide will help you spot Minke Whales, White-Beaked Dolphins, Harbour Porpoises and Humpback Whales. Following the Icewhale code of conduct for responsible whale watching respecting the wildlife on the bay keeping a distance from the animals and allowing them approach the boat so that their daily routine is not disturbed.

A sightings log and area map is kept on board and at the end of each trip a volunteer is asked to mark the sightings on exact co-ordinates on the map.

Whales of Iceland Exhibition

For the complete experience we have included Whales Of Iceland exhibition. It houses 23 man-made life size models of the various whale species found in Icelandic waters throughout its natural history including a 25 m. (82 ft.) long blue whale, a full-size sperm whale, the critically endangered North Atlantic right whale and many more.

Enjoy the interactive information stands and videos, whilst surrounded by soothing whale sound at this unique exhibit.
Tickets are valid for the whole day and include: Audio guide included (10+ languages available) and a live guided tour daily at 13:30.
