Fretheim Hotel, Flam

Introduction

Set in a refurbished manor house from the 1800s in the town of Flam, is the perfect base for exploring and taking excursion in the unspoilt scenery of western Norway.

The long history of Fretheim is carefully preserved and, throughout the building, you can still see signs of the hotel’s past. The building’s older sections have been carefully restored with open fireplaces and antique furniture decorates the lounges, library and historical guest rooms.

Found in an area of exceptional natural beauty, the hotel’s staff are eager to help you get the best of your time in Norway, and can arrange hiking, canoeing and guided tours of the area. Bikes and ski equipment are also available for rental.

The restaurant serves delectable Norwegian cuisine, based on organic, locally sourced ingredient which, in the summer, can be enjoyed on the hotel’s terrace. The hotel’s bar is comfortably set out and provides a cosy atmosphere in which to enjoy a drink or tuck-in to a light snack. We highly recommend that guests stay in the hotels historical wing, however the rooms in the modern section are well appointed as well, and every room in Fretheim has views of either the striking fjord or the jagged mountains.
