Hotel Kviknes, Balestrand

Introduction

On the shores of the beautiful Sognefjord, Hotel Kviknes sits on an enviable position in one of Norway’s most scenic areas.

Built in a traditional Swiss-style, the building’s distinctive white-wood facade has become characteristic of the area, and is well-suited to the lush emerald surroundings. Graced with an extensive art collection that began in 1877 and is displayed throughout, the hotel oozes old-world charm.

Over the years, previous guests have included royalty, presidents, prime ministers and movie stars. A wide range of activities at and from the hotel enable guests to make the most of their scenic surroundings and hiking, in particular, draws guests to these shores.

Other activities include wine tastings, cultural trips and fishing excursions. The restaurant features an international menu, served with vintages from the hotel’s well-stocked wine cellar. The dining room and terrace that host your evening meals feature especially popular fjord views and are an atmospheric way in which to dine. Accommodation is shared between the historical and more modern building and most of the rooms have balconies with stunning views. We highly recommend guests to upgrade to rooms in the Historical part, but early booking is essential.
