Introduction
As the name would suggest, this 89-room hotel is located in the historic centre of the city, on one of its oldest streets. The original building dates back from 1764 and the two more modern wings are constructed in a similar style. A building of incredible history, the basement was built around the archaeological remains of the oldest Viking longhouse in Iceland, dating back to 871CE.
Each of the 89 rooms feature quality furnishings and an elegant décor, perfect for taking some time just the two of you, or relaxing after a long day on the town. The restaurant, Fjalakotturinn, is a stylish blend of the classic and the modern, serving authentic Icelandic cuisine that is sourced from local, quality ingredients. Their wine list is one of the city’s best and has even received the Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence. The bar offers a delectable selection of wines and beers and is a good place to catch up with other travellers.
You have your choice of five different room styles, all including en suite facilities, minibar, TV, hair dryer, iron & ironing board, safety deposit box and coffee & tea facilities.
