Iso-Syote Hotel and Cabins

Iso-Syote Hotel and Cabins

Introduction

A small and friendly hotel with great views over the snowy fells, offering accommodation in rooms, cabins and suites this is a fantastic place from which to experience Finnish Lapland. With a restaurant, bar and lounge on site, there is plenty of space in which to relax after a day exploring the area.

The variety of accommodation includes stylish hotel rooms, a selection of cosy log cabins, fell top cottages and some unique suites with superb facilities. The Iso-Syote Hotel has ensuite twin rooms with fantastic views of the scenic surrounds, and there are traditional semi-detached log cabins nestled amongst the trees or larger cottages on the top of the fell with far reaching views.

Being centrally located between three airports – Rovaniemi (2.5 hours transfer time); Oulu (2 hours) and Kuusamo (1 hour), means a greater choice of flights connecting through Helsinki.

A very popular choice is the luxurious Eagles View Suite – on two floors the suite features a lounge and sitting area with cosy fireplace, private sauna,  jacuzzi and stunning panoramic views from the hill top. The two-storey Aurora Suites, situated in the main building include a large window at the end of the bed looking out onto their own private jacuzzi on the balcony, a perfect spot for aurora watching.  The Bear Cave Suite includes a large lavish suite with double bed, lounge area with large stone fireplace and indoor Jacuzzi and two private sauna’s – a Turkish steam sauna and regular Finnish sauna. The round glass facade connects you to the outside with far reaching views and facing the north for aurora spotting.

Kelo Cabins

There are 20 traditional and sturdy Kelo-style semi-detached cottages, set amongst the trees, all within walking distance of the hotel which offers an extensive breakfast, included in the price of your holiday. There is a track down from the hotel and cabins to the other facilities in the resort, a stunning walk of around 30-40 minutes but there are several ski buses (paid locally) throughout the day should you prefer . Every cabin has its own veranda and sleeps up to four (2 adults and 2 children), although we do recommend this for couples due to space. They comprise a living area with small sofabed and fireplace, kitchenette, twin bedroom, bathroom including a private sauna. There is a minimum stay of 3 nights in the cabins.

Fell Top Cottages

On the very top of Iso-Syote fell there are 16 wooden cottages with not surprisingly, the best views of all, looking out over the entire area. These two storey cottages are built to a high specification in magnificent natural surrounds and can accommodate up to eight. On the ground floor there is a living room with fireplace, armchairs and a sofa bed, a fully equipped kitchen (with cooker, fridge, dishwasher, oven, microwave, coffeemaker etc), a dining area, one double bedroom and private facilities – shower, WC and sauna plus a drying cabinet. On the first floor there are two further bedrooms (each with twin beds), a loft and a second bathroom. For those travelling as a group, two of these cottages have been built with interconnecting doors meaning they can be used as a  6-bed property but even if your group isn’t as large as this, these cottages are ideal for a friends and family getaway. There is a minimum stay of 3 nights in the cottages.

Facilities & Activities

Skiing

Iso-Syote has direct access to fifteen pistes with many of the slopes illuminated at night. Although the terrain is best suited to beginners and intermediate skiers with straight smooth runs from top to bottom, more advanced skiers will enjoy the opportunities in the powder fields through the trees. The constant sub-zero temperatures that are the norm through the winter here, stop the snow from melting and keep it light and powdery for weeks, sometimes months on end, which is good news for snowboard fans! The ski resort is fully open from mid-December and if you travel earlier in the season the slopes are open at weekends (depending on snow conditions). All ski facilities are available to book locally and not available to pre-book.

Optional excursions

As well as skiing, Iso-Syote also offers a range of excursions, from husky sledding, reindeer safari, snowmobile excursions and trips to view the incredible dance of the northern lights, so there is plenty to keep you busy on this popular winter holiday.

Arctic Spa

A relaxing spa with saunas, pools and an amazing view, perfect for guests to relax and revitalise after a day in the snow. The sauna area has a Finnish sauna and steam bath whilst the pool area features a hot tub, a therapy pool with hydrotherapy jets and counter current units, and a cold pool. They will also offer a full range of body and beauty treatments at an additional price and available to book in advance or at the hotel reception.
