Overview

Perched on a felltop with panoramic views over the lakes and forests of Syote National Park in Finnish Lapland, this secluded resort complete with a fairy tale covering of thick snow, has excellent northern lights potential and a great range of accommodation and activities. Choose from well-appointed hotels rooms, stylish suites with private saunas and outdoor jacuzzis, cottages and traditional log cabins.

This lofty resort is perched on a felltop in Syote National Park, around 150km below the Arctic Circle. Not only are the views spectacular, but the big skies and lack of artificial light pollution bode well for sightings of the aurora borealis. As an added bonus, this part of Finland often receives bumper snowfalls, causing trees to bow under the weight and creating a wonderland for winter activities.

Rooms with a view at Iso-Syote

Long-established favourites include traditional log-cabin Kelo Cottages and spacious Fjell Top Cottages. For something a little more luxurious are ten, two-storey Aurora View Suites in the main hotel building with sauna, balcony and outdoor jacuzzi, while the Eagle’s View Suite has a living room with fireplace and sauna downstairs and a double bedroom with jacuzzi nestled above. The Bear Cave Suite offers a very spacious living area with stone fireplace and Jacuzzi offering amazing views, sumptuous furnishings and a bathroom with two private sauna’s – all suite have fabulous views.

Things to do at Iso-Syote

Husky sledding, snowmobiling, reindeer safaris, ice fishing, snowshoeing, downhill skiing and cross-country skiing are just some of the optional activities on offer. You can also visit the Ranua Wildlife Park or Rovaniemi’s Santa Claus Village (a must for families). Iso-Syote has a restaurant, bar and lounge, perfect for relaxing in after a day exploring the area.

A small and friendly hotel with great views over the snowy fells and offering accommodation in rooms, cabins and suites, this is a fantastic place from which to experience Finnish Lapland. With a restaurant, bar and lounge on site, there is plenty of space in which to relax after a day exploring the area.

The variety of accommodation includes stylish hotel rooms, a selection of cosy log cabins, fell top cottages and some unique suites with superb facilities.

Itinerary

Transfer to Iso-Syote. Transfer times vary from 90 minutes to 2 hours. Check into your accommodation for your stay.

Spend your time at Iso-Syote enjoying the winter experience – relax in front of a roaring fire in your traditional log cabin or in the comfortable hotel rooms and suites, or get out into the wilderness and enjoy this pristine northern beauty. Ski, husky-sled or snowmobile through the fresh powder or cut a hole in the ice and try your hand at ice-fishing. And don’t forget to head out on an evening snowmobile safari in pursuit of the jewel of the Finnish wilderness, the northern lights.
