Rockies Heli-Hiking Adventure

You will be transferred from Banff on a scenic drive with through Banff and Kootenay National Parks to the Bugaboos Helipad. From here, enjoy your first flight to the Bugaboo Lodge, nestled in the mountains, deep in Bugaboo Provincial Park. After lunch at the lodge, fly up for an afternoon of hiking or leisurely guided walk in some of the world’s most stunning mountains.

Set out by helicopter with your guide to spend the day exploring the immense variety of landscapes. You’ll be divided into groups according to the activity level and adventure you’ve chosen. Choose classic hiking, walking or one of the adventure trails such as the Skyladder Via Ferrata and the Bugaboo Spires Glacier Trek.

Shortly after breakfast, prepare for departure. Once everyone is down at the helipad, you will be transferred back to Banff with a packed lunch – retracing the journey through Kootenay and Banff National Parks to Banff.  

Take the scenic Bow Valley Parkway route which runs parallel to the Trans-Canada highway. Be sure to stop at Johnston Canyon and walk along the paved footpath to either the lower or upper waterfalls.

Today, travel along the incredible Icefields Parkway and incorporate the ultimate glacier exploration. Walk on ancient ice with the Ice Explorer ride and stand on a glass platform almost one thousand feet in the air at the Glacier Skywalk (included).

Today you can enjoy your choice of one included excursion from the following options:   Option 1: Maligne lake cruise – enjoy a scenic boat trip on one of Canada’s most spectacular lakes, home to the much-photographed Spirit Island.(weather dependent)   Option 2: Jasper River Float – take a gentle rafting tour on the Athabasca River through Jasper National Park.   Option 3: Jasper Nature Walk – a guided nature walk through this spectacular landscape of jagged peaks, forests, meadows, marshes, streams, and stunning glacial lakes.

Today travel the ‘Yellowhead’ Route past Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. Follows the Thompson River through the snowy peaks of the Monashee and Caribou Mountains before arriving in Sun Peaks.  

For your final day, travel to Lillooet, known as the land of the Gold Rush Trail and ‘Mile Zero’ of the Old Caribou Wagon. Continue to the pretty Duffey and Joffre lakes. Stop in Whistler for lunch then on to Shannon Falls & Stawamus Chief Rock. Your Canadian Rockies adventure comes to an end upon your arrival in Vancouver.
