Explore lesser-known parts of Iceland in the remote Westfjords, visit charming villages, beautiful waterfalls and colourful lava fields. Immerse yourself in its untamed beauty, rich history, and vibrant culture while increasing your chances of witnessing the mesmerizing northern lights. Get ready to be captivated by the magical skies and landscapes of the Westfjords Way, where each day promises exciting experiences and unforgettable moments.

Accompanied by an experienced guide depart from Reykjavik visiting Grabrok volcanic crater, and the charming town of Budardalur en route to Isafjordur your base for 3 nights.  Explore this beautiful small town and the fishing village of Flateyri, visit local museums and the stunning tiered Dynjandi waterfall.  Each evening head out for a stroll in search of the elusive Aurora Borealis.

Visit Holmavik where its museum tells of the history and folklore surrounding witchcraft and sorcery in Iceland. Continue to a remote location for an overnight stay and another chance to watch for the mesmerising Northern Lights.

Itinerary

Transfer to your hotel in Reykjavik.  Explore Reykjavik independently and enjoy dinner at one of the many fabulous restaurants that the capital has to offer.

Travel north to the remote Westfjords stopping at Grabrok volcaninc crater and the charming coastal town of Budardalur en route to Isafjordur. Visit Litlibaer a cafe and museum houses in one of the few remaining turf houses still standing in Iceland. This evening head out for a stroll to search for the Aurora.

Distance travelled: 470km / 292 miles

Begin the day at Dynjandi waterfall, widely regarded as one of Iceland’s most impressive and beautiful waterfalls in Iceland.  Travel along the coastline and fjords to Onundarfjordur pier. This afternoon explore the small town of Isafjordur, filled with colourful houses and cobblestone streets, this town is not only full of history, but it is also a cultural hub with many festivals and celebrations taking place throughout the year. This evening head outside for another chance to spot the northern lights.

Distance travelled: 160km / 99 miles

Start the day at the restored fishing hut at Osvor Maritime Museum and learn  about life in isolated fishing villages in the 19th century. Continue to the village of Flateyri learning about the history life in the area.

Distance travelled: 110km / 62 miles

Visit the picturesque village of Hólmavík and learn about the history and folklore surrounding witchcraft and sorcery in Iceland. Continue to remote Budardalur for an overnight stay perfect for spotting the aurora.

Distance travelled: 330km / 205 miles

Head to the town of Borgarnes and the Settlement Centre featuring an exhibition on the early human settlement in Iceland. Continue south to the capital City of Reykjavik learning about its history and stopping by its many landmarks such as the church of Hallgrimskirkja, The University campus and Reykjavik’s charming harbour and the spectacular concert hall and conference centre of Harpa.

Transfer to Keflavík Airport in time for your flight home.
