Overview

The peaceful, snowy fells of Finnish Lapland are a world away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and provide the setting for a perfect short winter break, whether it’s a romantic escape, adventure-packed active break or aurora hunting holiday – northern lights sightings here can be spectacular.

Authentic log cabins and crackling fires are an integral part of many people’s idea of a perfect winter getaway. Our short breaks to Finnish Lapland offer exactly this, set in a number of beautiful areas and without forgetting the Finnish staple – private saunas. After a day out enjoying all kinds of snow-based activities, a sauna session is just the ticket. The cabins and other accommodation options we feature are built to a high standard and come in a variety of designs; for anything up to 6 persons with kitchenette and dining facilities, a lounge area and in many cases, a private sauna.

It’s not just about where you go, but how you experience it. I’m here to turn that trip into an adventure you’ll cherish.

Finland winter breaks

Stay in the heart of Finland’s pristine wilderness on one of our winter breaks in Finland. An authentic Arctic experience where you’ll explore winter-wreathed forests and frozen lakes by snowshoe, snowmobile and husky sled. The heavy snow draped over the trees under the atmospheric blue glow of mid-winter is utterly Finnish.

Untainted by light pollution, the aurora borealis can shine brightly here – all you need to do is step outside your cabin and look up…

Stay in stylish properties tucked away in taiga forests or beside lakes. Many offering inclusive options of meals and activities so you can budget easily. And of course, saunas feature heavily.

Finland summer breaks

For short breaks to Finland during the summer months, our wildlife focused trips get you right into the thick of prime brown bear territory. The wild and wonderful ancient taiga forest stretches in a green swathe from western Russia to eastern Finland. Spend a night in a specially designed hide, set in habitats ranging from wetland to forest, for an excellent chance of photographing not only bears but other wildlife such as wolverine, lynx, capercaillie and goshawk.

During the day spend time exploring the beautiful Finnish countryside and enjoy the many outdoor activities available such as cycling, hiking, swimming, fishing and canoeing.

Alternatively, choose to spend a few long summer days floating gently through Finland’s lakes on a houseboat. Enjoy leisurely days and peaceful summer evenings moored in picturesque locations.
