Itinerary

  • All voyage itineraries are intended as a guideline only – embracing the unexpected is part of the legacy of expedition travel. Actual routes and landings will be dependent on weather, sea and ice conditions. A degree of flexibility is essential in the polar regions!
  • The below sample itinerary is based on the 14-day voyage on the Ultramarine. Other departures may vary in duration and routing, i.e. alternative embarkation or disembarkation ports, or do not include the pre-voyage hotel night. Please contact us for specific details.

Your adventure begins in Reykjavik, Iceland. Arrive at the Icelandic capital and make your own way to the hotel. You will have the rest of the day to explore and enjoy the city at your leisure.

This afternoon you will embark the ship to begin for Arctic adventure.

Sail across the Denmark Strait towards Greenland.

Your exploration of Greenland begins in East Greenland, one of the least visited and most remote parts of the island. Your days sailing along the coast will be guided by weather and ice conditions, with each day and each excursion presenting new adventures. The region is a sight to behold, boasting a mesmerising maze of vast glaciers, steep mountains and breath-taking fjords. Explore Lindenow Fjord, also known by its Greenlandic name, Kangerlussuaq. Conditions permitting, you may enjoy activities including heli-landings, hiking, paddle excursions, Zodiac cruises, and shore landings in this ice-laden landscape of tumbling glaciers, alpine vistas and wildlife.

Sail along the spectacular west coast of Greenland into the Westlands and experience the contrast between the Greenland Ice Sheetthe second-largest body of ice on the planetand the grassy valleys of the coast. Steeped in Viking history, you’ll explore landmarks such as the Kujataa UNESCO World Heritage site to learn about the region’s history and cultural traditions

Explore the highlights of Southern Greenland. Many factors play a role in shaping the expedition’s itinerary, including sea, ice and weather conditions, but your Expedition Team will ensure you see as much as possible with regular shore landings and Zodiac cruises.

As stunning as the polar landscapes are from your ship, they’re even more striking from Zodiacs. Each day your expedition team will plan excursions deep in the southern fjords systems, which may also include a chance to dip a kayak in the water. Each activity provides a different way to experience the diverse, dramatic landscapes and rich Arctic wildlife on offer in the region.
