Overview

Hidden away in the Rane River valley of Swedish Lapland is eco-lodge Arctic Retreat. Sheltered in the forest wilderness, and located in a fantastic location for viewing the northern lights, it offers traditional and beautifully decorated log cabin accommodation. With a high level of personal service and genuine arctic experiences available, it ideal for an intimate winter break.

The creation of a local family, Arctic Retreat is a hidden gem located in the heart of the wilderness beside the Rane River. About an hour inland from the coastal city of Lulea courtesy of a private transfer, it is set amidst a boreal forest, which is picture-perfect under winter snow. Offering great personal service and authentic experiences, the moment you arrive you’ll know you’re in for an amazing arctic adventure.

A key feature at Arctic Retreat is the cuisine – Swedish style home cooking is the foundation of the menu, using the best local ingredients including fish, game, vegetables, berries and mushrooms and prepared using recipes from the Swedish and Sami cultures. All meals are included in your stay (excludes alcoholic beverages). Breakfast and dinner are served in the cosy timber Getronosan Restaurant. Lunch is usually provided during an outdoor activity.

These activities include husky sledding, snowmobile safaris, snowshoeing, Sami cultural visits and northern light excursions all contributing to an authentic and adventurous getaway.

Arctic Retreat, Swedish Lapland

Situated in the wilderness next to a river, the intimate Arctic Retreat is just over an hour away from Lulea in the southern part of Swedish Lapland. There are just four cabins, sleeping from 2 to 4 people and furnished in typically Scandinavian fashion and quality. Each of the cabins has panoramic windows for aurora watching; a private outdoor Jacuzzi in three of them; private bathroom; fireplace and firewood and coffee machine. On site there is a separate building with wood fired sauna for use during your stay.

Itinerary

On arrival in Lulea you will be met and transferred to the Arctic Retreat (journey time 1 hour). Settle into your accommodation before enjoy the evening meal.

Spend time enjoying the arctic nature surrounding the retreat, choosing from a selection of optional activities which can be pre-booked. Later on perhaps enjoy the outdoor Jacuzzi and socialise around the open fire.

Take the transfer back to Lulea Airport for the return flight.
