Overview

Explore the ice-choked fjords and small settlements along the coast of West Greenland on this adventure-filled voyage. Shore landings, Zodiac cruises and the chance to join optional kayak excursions offer a great way to immerse yourself in your surroundings and meet Inuits living the traditional ways of life in some of the world's most remote environments.

Hiking trails featuring stunning vistas of bays filled with icebergs are a reward for photography enthusiasts, while kayakers can glide through waters teeming with whales. The Ilulissat Icefjord is a UNESCO World Heritage Site where boats and people alike are dwarfed by the sheer size of the icebergs on sides.

This voyage starts and ends in Greenland's capital, Nuuk located on a vast fjord system that characterises the west coast of Greenland.

Greg Mortimer

Newly launched in 2019, the Greg Mortimer is a custom-built expedition ship carrying a maximum of 120 passengers and featuring cutting-edge design, superior comfort and environmentally friendly technology.

Every detail has been carefully thought through to enhance your overall experience, providing an unrivalled level of comfort, safety and efficiency on board.

The Greg Mortimer’s most striking feature is the X-BOW®, an inverted bow concept which results in smoother sailing and increased efficiency. Rather than rising over and then dropping onto waves like a traditional ship, the X-BOW® pierces through them, splitting the wave’s energy. This has multiple benefits – it enables the ship to remain much more stable in rough seas, it makes the ship faster and more energy efficient, with fewer emissions and lower fuel consumption, and the decks are kept drier with less ocean spray.

Guest cabins offer exceptional comfort and many feature full length window or private balconies, ideal for keeping an eye out for passing wildlife. There are also two lounge/bars with floor to ceiling windows, and plenty of outside deck space.
