The award-winning Nkasa Lupala Tented Lodge is located in the Wuparo Conservancy on the edge of Nkasa Rupara National Park, home to fascinating wetlands and a wealth of wildlife viewing opportunities.
Here you may spot vast herds of elephant and buffalo, alongside predatory lions, leopards and hyenas. Rare wetland species such as lechwe, sitatunga and reed buck can also be seen, as well as a diverse range of birdlife. Wildlife is free to roam the park’s savannah and woodlands – and throughout the unfenced lodge too. From the safety of your stilted deck you can watch the animals below, offering unparalleled wildlife viewing from the comfort of your room.
The remote Nkasa Lupala Tented Lodge has been carefully designed to minimise impact on the environment without compromising on comfort or service. The property blends into the surrounding landscape and utilises locally sourced materials and traditional African building techniques. Fully solar-powered, Nkasa Lupala features eight standard permanent stilted tents, each with double or twin beds, ensuite facilities and outside viewing deck. In addition there is a honeymoon tent which also boasts an open-air bath, and a family tent catering for up to two adults and two children.
The main lodge building includes a second-floor viewing deck, offering breathtaking vistas across the flood plains and endless channels and tributaries of the Kwando-Linyanti river system. The building also features a bar, dining room and lounge area for guests to enjoy. There is also a swimming pool on site.

This relaxing cruise departs directly from the lodge and is conducted on the Harubandi channel, part of the Kwando-Linyanti river system. This 2.5 hour excursion is the ideal introduction to the landscapes and wildlife of the area.
Combo Drive & Boat Cruise
Combine a memorable game drive with an exclusive cruise on the Linyanti river, through one of the most unexplored areas of Namibia. Particularly recommended during the winter months when elephants migrate in great numbers from Botswana into Namibia.
A unique opportunity to visit a homestead in the Wuparo Conservancy. You may also go to the village school and Traditional Authority for an insight into the local way of life in this remote corner of Africa.
The walking safari is conducted by lodge guides and an armed community ranger, and operates subject to safety conditions. For those with a reasonable level of fitness only, this is an incredible opportunity to find wildlife on foot.

Conservation at Nkasa Lupala
Nkasa Lupala Lodge is a joint venture enterprise between the 2,000+ members of the Wuparo Conservancy and private investors, supported by the IRDNC and WWF. This agreement includes financially supporting the conservancy in order to protect and sustain the resource base for the local wildlife.
Nkasa Lupala operates on solar power and follows good practice on waste management and recycling. The Ministry of Environment have undertaken and approved full Environmental Impact Assessment at the lodge.
The lodge is commited to supporting the local community both through buying goods and services from them, as well as developing the ability of the community to expand their production of items the lodge can utilise. 95% of Nkasa Lupala’s employees are from the local community.
