Full description

The holiday village is situated near the small town of Mora in the Dalarna region surrounded by forests, lakes and hills and has many facilities on site to ensure an enjoyable stay.

There is so much to do to keep you busy that a week is not enough time to fit it all in. Apart from the inclusive activities there are also other facilities available – take a walk through endless woods and past clear lakes, ride a mountain bike along narrow paths and canoe on the lake looking out for wildlife as you paddle.

For those wanting a little more action in your free time there are other optional extras which can be purchased locally such as a mountain bike tour, quad bike safari (driving license required), nature safari and a local tour of the nearby villages. But don’t worry, there will also be time to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings.

Accommodation is based in family cabins with 2 or 3 bedrooms, some with bunk beds, bathroom and small kitchenette. On site there is also a reception open daily, small café selling refreshments and souvenirs, hot tub and sauna (additional cost), small football pitch, basketball, table tennis and barbecue facilities.

This is a great opportunity to spend quality time together as a family, forget the television and busy schedule back home, to learn new things and just enjoy nature.

Itinerary & Accommodation

Itinerary & Accommodation

Day 1: arrive at Johannisholm Adventure

It is possible to fly to either Stockholm or Oslo airport where you will be met by a guide and transferred to Johannisholm (approximate journey time 3.5-4 hours), a small village in the province of Dalarna. On arrival you will have time to settle into your cabin accommodation before the evening meal and a briefing on the week ahead.

Day 2: Lybergsgnupen Walk

Transfer approximately 40 minutes to the start of the walk which begins through the beautiful nature reserve Gnupen, with about 4km through a very old forest. Keep a look out for rare plants and birds. Head to Lybergsgnupen, a rock outcrop 657 meters above sea level with magnificent views looking across towards Mora and Lake Siljan. At the top there is a shelter where a fire is lit and you can toast your sandwiches! The walk will take between 4 and 5 hours in total, depending on speed and conditions, arriving back at the accommodation mid-afternoon.

Day 3: canoe trip & camping

After safety instructions and a wobbly start you set off into fantastic surroundings in the aluminium Canadian canoes (these can take 2 or 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 smaller children). The first part of the morning is spent on a smaller lake getting used to the paddling and making sure everyone is comfortable. Then in the afternoon the canoes are packed with the equipment and you head to the larger lake. With luck you may even see a moose! After a couple of hours paddling with stops made along the way, you arrive at a beautiful location and help make camp, building a shelter or if you prefer small tents can be provided. Then help prepare a meal over the campfire. In the evening there may be time to go for a walk, have a late evening paddle or even try some fishing.

Day 4: canoe back to Johannisholm

After waking up to the birds singing and then breakfast, you break camp and pack the canoes once again for the return paddle back to Johannisholm, arriving by midday. The afternoon is at leisure to catch up on some sleep, relax and enjoy the surroundings or play some games.

Day 5: archery & climbing

Today the children take part in activities at the resort. The archery range is located in the old barn nearby. First you receive safety information and instructions on how to use the equipment before a practice session using the bow. Then it’s time for some games and competitions.

After lunch, children can try the climbing wall, with different heights and routes suitable for all abilities. First put on the harness and under instructor supervision you are shown how to climb safely. Adults if they wish can relax in the wood heated sauna which can be arranged locally and included once during the stay.

Day 6: multi-outdoor activity day

The multi outdoor day includes several activities for everyone to take part. First you are divided into teams (depends on numbers) to build a raft which can take a couple of hours. Then after lunch there is a relay race where you paddle to a location on the lake and collect flags. Once all the flags are collected (four per team) the teams then move to other locations and different challenges throughout the day. A fun filled time for all the family.

Day 7: at leisure with optional activities

Today you can choose from various optional activities (additional cost), explore the area, or simply have a relaxing day around Johannisholm. Activities to be booked locally are:

  • Mountain biking
  • Lake Siljan tour
  • Quad bike safari (driving license required)
  • Nature Safari
  • Day 8: depart Johannisholm

Transfer from your family adventure back to the airport.
