One of our fastest and most stable ships, the Akademik Sergey Vavilov delivers excellent service levels with a focus on well-being and learning.
Maximum passengers: 92
The Vavilov carries a team of dedicated Adventure Concierges, on board to ensure your individual needs and interests are catered for throughout your voyage. A resident professional photographer is also on hand on every voyage, offering advice and instruction via multimedia presentations, group workshops or on the spot assistance as and when needed. A fitness trainer and a massage therapist complete the Vavilov’s team of specialist staff.
Facilities include a Finnish dry-heat sauna, sea water plunge pool, hot tub, small gym and a massage room. A multimedia computer lab with several large screen workstations is available for you to download and back up photos. The ship also features a lecture theatre, observation lounge, bar and library. Guests have the optional use of binoculars, trekking poles, a waterproof backpack and re-usable water bottle throughout the voyage.
The Vavilov and her sister ship, the Akademik Ioffe, are both former scientific research vessels. Purpose-built to conduct sensitive hydro-acoustic surveys in the polar regions, they are now among the most stable and quiet ships in our fleet. They are also very fast, reaching 14.5 knots in open water, which means less time cruising and more time available for shore landings, Zodiac explorations and kayaking excursions.
