Iceland Short Breaks
Just three hours’ flying time from the UK, Iceland is crying out for a short break. Trendy Reykjavik makes a great base for a few days, but there’s also plenty of scope for a short break beyond the city, staying in a countryside hotel, enjoying delicious local food and tracking down natural wonders, from waterfalls and icecaps to the northern lights.
Whether you’re a first-timer looking for something a bit different, or an ‘Iceland connoisseur’ in search of a new adventure, we’ve got a year round collection of 3- to 5-night short breaks.
You can easily explore the natural wonders of the Golden Circle – less than 90 minutes’ drive from Reykjavik – or set off on a journey of discovery along the South Coast. A long weekend break in Iceland is ideal for northern lights watching during winter or a few summer days relaxing in a rural bolthole with a hot tub and fine cuisine. If you’re short of time, but big on action, we can help fill your days with everything from glacier walking to superjeep tours.
Reykjavik & the Blue Lagoon
Visit the world’s most northerly capital Reykjavik – a compact city full of life at any time of year. Whether you want R&R on a Blue Lagoon Spa Break, thrills and adventure on our Superjeep Weekend Safari or a base from which to explore the surrounding countryside on our Reykjavik Explorer fly-drive, we offer both independent and escorted options.
Northern Lights Short Breaks
Visit Iceland between the months of October and April and you have the potential added bonus of seeing the northern lights. Whether you want to join a tour with an expert guide or hire a car to explore independently, we always recommend escaping the light pollution of the city for the best aurora-watching opportunities. We have a wide range of winter short breaks, including:
Short Breaks in North & East Iceland
Although Reykjavik and the Southwest are perfect for a short break, don’t overlook Iceland’s other regions. North Iceland and the East Fjords, for example, each have their own special blend of spectacular scenery and fascinating places to visit – not to mention activities like whale watching, horse riding and boat trips in search of puffins.
