Iceland Short Breaks

Just three hours’ flying time from the UK, Iceland is crying out for a short break. Trendy Reykjavik makes a great base for a few days, but there’s also plenty of scope for a short break beyond the city, staying in a countryside hotel, enjoying delicious local food and tracking down natural wonders, from waterfalls and icecaps to the northern lights.

Whether you’re a first-timer looking for something a bit different, or an ‘Iceland connoisseur’ in search of a new adventure, we’ve got a year round collection of 3- to 5-night short breaks.

You can easily explore the natural wonders of the Golden Circle – less than 90 minutes’ drive from Reykjavik – or set off on a journey of discovery along the South Coast. A long weekend break in Iceland is ideal for northern lights watching during winter or a few summer days relaxing in a rural bolthole with a hot tub and fine cuisine. If you’re short of time, but big on action, we can help fill your days with everything from glacier walking to Superjeep tours.

Head to the world’s most northerly capital, Reykjavik – a compact city full of life at any time of year. If you’re into museums, art galleries, boutique shopping, restaurants and nightlife, Iceland’s capital can keep you busy for days. Our advice is to combine the city highlights with the beauty of Iceland’s natural attractions – perhaps on a two-centre break like our Reykjavik Lights and Highland Highlights adventure. For thrills and a uniquely Icelandic experience, opt for our Superjeep Weekend Safari.

If R&R is your priority, there are plenty of places in Iceland where you can soak away your cares in therapeutic, mineral-rich waters. You’ve probably heard of the Blue Lagoon, which only 20 minutes from the airport makes a perfect start or end to your holiday. One of Iceland’s newest spas is the captivating Sky Lagoon just outside Reykjavik city centre. Bathe in the geothermal waters whilst gazing out over the ocean.
